## Executive Summary

LayerX Security reached its exit without building a browser. While rivals such as Island shipped replacement enterprise browsers, the Tel Aviv company, founded in 2022, built an extension that turns Chrome, Edge, and Firefox into browsers that enforce company security policy, watching prompts, file uploads, and AI agent actions at the last mile of user activity. Akamai paid about 205 million dollars in cash and closed the deal on July 2, 2026, joining CrowdStrike, Zscaler, and Palo Alto Networks, which had each bought browser-security companies of their own. Akamai expects about 10 million dollars in annual recurring revenue at year end. It now lists the product as Akamai Workforce Protector.
